Être and Avoir
These two verbs are the very foundation of the French language. Without sound understanding of these two verbs, very little can be done in French.
ÊTRE - to be
|
AVOIR - to have
|
N. B.
- In French, it is preferable not to pronounce two vowel sounds in a row. As a result, the "e" in "je" is dropped and "je ai" becomes "j'ai" and is pronounced as one word.
- It is important to note that the word "je" is not capitalized the way "I" is in English.
